Six reviewers say Lorand dealt with the insurer. One chose Lorand over a larger multi-city firm from the insurer's own network.

What do reviewers say about price?

What do reviewers say about price?

Reported prices run $5,000 to $25,000.

What else do customers hire them for?

One reviewer had gutters, windows and a garage door replaced after hail along with the roof, and another had solar panels taken down and put back.

    Worth knowing
A one-star reviewer's $28,000 roof leaked after five or six heavy rains. They say the flashing was never replaced because insurance didn't pay for it, and Holden asked $2,000 more. Holden had not replied to any of the 20 reviews we read, and its 4.6 rating is the lowest on this list.

Left off this list

  • 21st Century Painting, Roofing & Siding. Listed first as a painter; roofing is one of several trades.
  • Austin Pro Siding. A siding company first; roofing is a sideline.
  • Titan Siding. A siding company first; roofing is a sideline.
  • Team Enoch. Listed first for plumbing and air conditioning; roofing is a sideline.
  • Lapeyre Roofing. 18 of the 20 reviews we read were short, gave no job details, and came from accounts with one or two reviews, so we could not judge the work.

Common questions

How did you pick these companies?

These are the 10 Austin-area roofing companies with the most Google reviews and a rating of at least 4.0 stars, as of 2026-10-19. We read 200 of their Google reviews in Google's "most relevant" order and summarized what customers say. No company paid to be included or ranked higher.

How long does a roof replacement take in Austin?

In the reviews we read, most replacements took one day, and large or steep roofs took one and a half to two. Insurance claims took far longer: several reviewers waited months, and some needed a re-inspection or an appraisal before the claim was approved.

Do I need a permit for a new roof in Austin?

Usually not for shingles. The City of Austin exempts asphalt shingles that replace asphalt shingles, and other roof coverings that don't affect the roof structure. You do need a permit if more than 128 sq ft of roof decking is replaced, or if the house is in the Wildland-Urban Interface area and half or more of the roof is replaced. Cities around Austin set their own rules.

Can a roofer pay my insurance deductible?

No. Under Texas law a contractor cannot waive, rebate or absorb your deductible, and a contract of $1,000 or more paid by insurance must say that you pay it. Both the contractor and the homeowner can be charged.

Can my roofer negotiate my insurance claim?

Not for a job it will do. Texas does not allow a roofer to act as your public adjuster. It can show the adjuster the damage, but the settlement is between you and your insurer.

What should I watch for when a roofer knocks on my door?

Several reviewers on this list met their roofer at the door or through a yard sign after hail, and it worked out. One hired a neutral home inspector first to confirm the roof needed replacing, and another paid an engineer to inspect the work before the final payment. Both are cheap compared with a new roof.

Before you get quotes

  • Your deductible is yours to payTexas law makes it illegal for a roofer to waive, rebate or absorb your insurance deductible. A contract of $1,000 or more paid by insurance has to say so.
  • Your roofer is not your adjusterTexas does not let a contractor act as your public adjuster on a claim for work it will do. A roofer can document damage and meet the adjuster, but cannot negotiate the settlement for you.
  • A permit if the job needs oneAustin needs a permit when more than 128 sq ft of decking is replaced, or for a large re-roof in the Wildland-Urban Interface area. Ask your roofer whether yours does and who pulls it.
  • A written contract and warranty in your nameGet every item, including extras like vent guards, written into the contract, and keep the warranty papers yourself.
  • A certified installer for the warranty you are paying forManufacturer warranties often need an installer on the manufacturer's certified list. Check the list on the shingle maker's website.
  • What happens to solar panels, gutters and deckingAsk who removes and reinstalls solar panels, and what rotten decking costs per sheet before the old roof comes off.
